New Florence finance director resigns

Less than a month after being hired, the town of Florence’s new finance director has resigned.

Brian Wright came to Florence after almost 20 years as finance director with the city of Eloy – and that’s where he has returned.

During the July 1 Florence Town Council meeting, Interim Town Manager and Police Chief Bruce Walls announced that Wright was going back to Eloy. 

Walls said that Eloy had matched Wright’s offer with Florence.

“He came and talked to us and basically said that his heart remains with the town of Eloy and the people that he’s directed for the last 18 years,” Walls said. “We want to wish Brian well and we will continue to go and work with the town of Eloy as a partner. I want to assure council that our finance team is intact and it’s under good leadership.”
