The East Valley Tribune has learned that an intern working for the newspaper in the spring 2012 semester plagiarized several articles that were published in print editions and online.
The intern, a student at Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication, no longer submits articles to the Tribune. Her articles have been removed from EastValleyTribune.com, and ASU has been notified.
The Tribune is in the process of contacting the publications that were plagiarized and is also taking steps to increase scrutiny of articles before they are published.
“Plagiarism is a serious violation of our policies and will not be tolerated at the Tribune,” said CeCe Todd, news editor and acting managing editor. “We apologize to our readers and to the writers and publications whose work was plagiarized for this violation of trust and ethics.”
