Planning changes would allow backyard cottages in CG

CASA GRANDE — The city’s Planning and Zoning Commission approved a raft of zoning text amendments now forwarded to the City Council for further deliberation, including permission to add backyard cottages in some areas.

Planning and Development Director Paul Tice said the text amendments are in response to recent state law changes which applicable beginning Jan. 1.

One of the amendments concerns accessory dwelling units, or ADU. The code changes would allow for ADUs to be built in some zoning areas, including Urban Ranch, Suburban Homestead, Single-family Residential, Multifamily and Mobile Home Residential.
