Construction begins on massive State Farm development in Tempe

Construction began Wednesday on the 2 million-square-foot State Farm Insurance regional headquarters just north of Sun Devil Stadium on the banks of Tempe Town Lake.

The $600 million facility, dubbed Marina Heights, is being developed by Ryan Cos. and Scottsdale-based Sunbelt Holdings and will be the largest office development in state history. The Business Journal first reported on this development in February before it became public in May. We also wrote an in-depth piece on the development that you can see here.

The developers, along with State Farm Senior Vice President Mary Crego, Arizona State University President Michael Crow and state leaders, unveiled renderings of the project Wednesday morning during a celebration of the groundbreaking at Sun Devil Stadium.
