The funding deal to end the record-long shutdown keeps much of the government running through Jan. 30, raising the risk of another impasse as the deadline approaches.
The deal funds most government operations for the next couple of months at their current rates, which were initially set by Congress in March 2024, when former President Biden was in office, Democrats controlled the Senate and Republicans held the majority in the House.
The legislative package also includes several bills to fully fund certain government operations through September, in a victory for proponents of the normal appropriations process.
