Mesa maps plan to combat business blight

For the past nine years, Indy Car Wash on Power Road near Main Street in Mesa has remained shuttered while racking up multiple code citations, including criminal, from the city.

Although the out-of-state property owner has indicated a willingness to fix and re-open the business, there’s been no movement on the permit, which has remained in limbo in the approval process for two years.

“We continue to have issues with lack of maintenance on the property with trespassing, graffiti, dumping (and) squatters,” said Angelica Guevara, code compliance director. “We did an abatement program several years ago after there was a fire at the property and we ended up boarding up the property, the building and then ended up fencing up the property
