Rep. Chris Lopez, R-Casa Grande, is putting forward a bill to provide a new funding source for commercial construction that mirrors ideas used in other states and, Lopez said, would be crucial to deal with statewide growth, particularly in Pinal County.
The bill, HB2824, would establish a C-PACE, or Commercial Property Assessed Capital Expenditure, program that would allow cities, towns, counties, etc. to facilitate funding, between private lenders and borrowers, for construction or infrastructure-related projects.
According to the Arizona House Republicans announcement of the policy, those projects could be “energy systems, water and wastewater infrastructure, building retrofits, manufacturing facilities, agricultural processing and logistics development.”
