Gov. Katie Hobbs scored some big wins in the bipartisan budget proposal, but she also confronted losses for some of her goals including Proposition 123 renewal and funding for state agencies.
The biggest win for the governor could potentially be the three-year moratorium on issuing new tax incentives for data center developers. Hobbs originally proposed eliminating the incentives altogether, saying that move would save the state over $38 million per year.
Sandy Bahr, the director of the Sierra Club’s Grand Canyon chapter, told the Yellow Sheet Report on Monday that she didn’t have high hopes for movement on the data center tax incentives. She said the idea seemed unlikely before the budget bills dropped on Tuesday.
