John MacDonald, an ex-Fiesta Bowl lobbyist, has entered into a plea agreement with the Arizona Attorney General’s Office under which he will plead guilty to a misdemeanor for his role in currying favor with lawmakers to benefit the bowl.

MacDonald, who formerly worked for Husk Partners, could not be reached for comment Monday.

The Attorney General’s Office said MacDonald has agreed to plead guilty to one count of failure to report principal expenditures, a Class 1 misdemeanor that involved lawmakers. The agreement calls for him to pay a fine up to $4,600.

MacDonald also will assist the state in its ongoing investigation of past activities surrounding the bowl.

MacDonald, as part of his plea agreement, said he committed the crime as part of his work with Husk Partners and Gary Husk, the bowl’s former top lobbyist. Husk could not immediately be reached for comment.
