The Little America resort complex in Flagstaff plans a major expansion, a project that is raising concerns about water and traffic, AP reports.

The project will include a new golf course, 1,400 houses, a shopping center and a second hotel.

Flagstaff city planners are recommending that the regional plan be amended to permit the 537-acre project.

A staff report stated Flagstaff doesn’t have enough reclaimed wastewater to irrigate the new golf course, so its construction likely would have to wait until the rest of the project generates wastewater to be treated and recycled.

The city planning commission plans a Nov. 13 hearing.
