Planning for a mixed-use entertainment district at Peoria’s spring-training ballpark is back on track after the developer revised the proposal and cut costs in half.
The revisions to the Peoria Sports Park proposal were prompted by an economic feasibility study commissioned by the city in April that found several concerns that led city leaders to question whether the project was economically and financially viable.
Peoria Sports Park, LLC, the development company led by Peoria resident Mike Oliver, revised plans and succeeded in alleviating those concerns. The City Council in a recent study session gave an informal nod to move the project forward. City staff is expected to bring a development agreement and amended ground lease for council approval next month.
