Phoenix chooses Zuercher as new city manager

ZuercherThe Phoenix City Council on Wednesday unanimously picked longtime employee Ed Zuercher to serve as the next city manager, a move Phoenix leaders hoped would strengthen both the city’s finances and its employee morale.

Zuercher, who has served as acting city manager since David Cavazos left Phoenix in October, will permanently take over the post leading Phoenix, the nation’s sixth-largest city.

“You are the man I think can bring the stability and comfort to the employees to move this city forward in a manner that is not only strengthening the city, but showing the employees that we do appreciate them,” Phoenix Councilwoman Thelda Williams said.
