Superstition Business Owners Group aims to attract business to the East Valley

A group of Apache Junction business owners hoping to attract new business to the area and grow the local economy are turning to their upscale neighbors to the north for inspiration and advice.

The Superstition Business Owners Group held an “economic conference” Sept. 19 and several leaders from Scottsdale and Phoenix were invited to talk about economic growth and luring new businesses to the East Valley.

The meeting was held at Superstition Harley-Davidson and hosted by Superstition Harley-Davidson owners Mark and Bev LeResche. Guest speakers were Scottsdale Mayor Jim Lane, Mark Dewane of the Scottsdale Business Development Forum, and Chris Camacho, executive vice president of business development of the Greater Phoenix Economic Council.

Guest speakers were united in their advice to the new business group: Be positive. Be supportive of the local government. Put aside personal interests in favor of what’s best for the community.

“Positive energy becomes very contagious,” said Mr. Dewane, whose volunteer business group in Scottsdale serves as the model for the new Superstition Business Owners Group.
