‘Tea party’ members question Glendale City Council candidates

 

Cruz, Opaska and Weiers seek the mayor’s post, while 11 candidates vie for seats in the three council districts

City spending took the spotlight Wednesday as a majority of Glendale City Council candidates answered questions from the Glendale Tea Party Patriots.

More than 60 residents and “tea party” members packed a meeting room at the Denny’s restaurant near 51st Avenue and Thunderbird Road for the group’s first debate.

Organizer Francine Romesburg and attendees asked the candidates about everything from the city’s long-term plans for Metro light rail to recent budget woes.
