Vice Mayor Tom Smith announced at the start of Monday’s Town Council meeting that he will not seek reelection this year, but he hasn’t ruled out a run for mayor in 2016.
Smith, 75, elaborated later that he has been on the council for more than 12 years, and he would like to take a year off and take some trips with his wife, Lynn.
Smith holds one of three Town Council seats on this year’s ballot. The final day on which candidates may file is May 28.
