Suit seeks to expand gay partner health benefits

Having won benefits for current state and university employees who are gay, attorneys are back in court asking the same for everyone hired in the future.

If they win, they are expected to go after cities, counties, school districts and all government employers in Arizona to provide the same benefits.

Attorney Tara Borelli of Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund wants U.S. District Judge John Sedwick to void a 2009 Arizona law that says benefits such as health insurance are available only to those who are married.
