Congress passes Bill Williams River Act, while county says it would harm development

Congress on Monday passed a settlement act to transfer water rights near Wikieup to a copper mine in Yavapai County.

U.S. Rep. Paul Gosar, R-Prescott, said his bill, H.R. 4924, the Bill Williams River Water Rights Settlement Act, passed the House without objection. A Senate version sponsored by U.S. Sens. John McCain and Jeff Flake, both Arizona Republicans, was approved Tuesday night.
