The Glendale City Council met Jan. 20 for possible action on a nearby casino, held an unscheduled executive session and passed a resolution that was not distributed before the meeting, perhaps in violation of the law.
Mary O’Grady, an attorney and former Arizona Solicitor General who represents the local committees that want a referendum to overturn the casino plans, urged the council, during the public comment period, not to take any action.
She warned of what could happen if the council started “playing games with a matter that is in litigation now and the subject of an ongoing referendum,” which she said “causes unnecessary confusion and risks additional litigation.”
