Despite overwhelming opposition from residents who attended the April member/director exchange, the Recreation Centers of Sun City Board of Directors will apparently still consider a motion to increase the Preservation and Improvement Fund fee.
The matter will be considered at the regular board meeting 9 a.m. Thursday, April 30 at Sundial Recreation Center. The proposal is to increase the fee, paid by each property transfer in Sun City, by $500, from the existing amount of $3,000 to $3,500. Proponents claim the increase will raise another $1 million per year for the fund.
The motion remained on the board’s agenda by press time. The final agenda will be released Thursday, April 23, according to Joelyn Higgins, RCSC communications and marketing director.
The PIF is used to fund major capital improvement projects in Sun City to avoid incurring debt by RCSC.
However, some residents believe the increase will be detrimental to home sales in the community.
Lori Bethany, a real estate agent who specializes in the Northwest Valley, said she has a number of clients who will not move to Sun City if the PIF is raised.
