Plans are pushing forward in Tempe to prevent a portion of Rio Salado Parkway from becoming a parking lot between Rural Road and Mill Avenue fronting the south Tempe Town Lake shore.
Current traffic volume when Arizona State University is in session gives failing grades to the intersection level of service — a rating as to how efficient an intersection moves traffic.
The sparkling blue cubes that are Marina Heights and heading toward a fall 2016 completion and a 6,000-employee State Farm Insurance regional headquarters. The additional driving employees could top traffic capacity at the two intersections — also impact others in the area — so property owners along the parkway are stepping up to fix the problem before it gets too far out of hand.
