Peoria added almost 4,000 jobs during the 2015-16 fiscal year, or nearly double the increase in employed residents the year before, in part because of the city’s recent economic development initiatives, with more coming in the budget for next year.
“The Economic Development Services Department engages in a robust sales, marketing and business retention/expansion program to attract high wage jobs from targeted industries, and to encourage growth in our existing companies to promote further investment, hiring and business expansion within our city,” said EDS Director Scott Whyte in a June 2 communication to the city council.
