The Chandler City Council will allow construction of nearly 130 single-family homes in the city’s Airpark area, on land that had been designated for commercial uses.
Last March, a divided council rejected plans for the homes, with most members saying it would sacrifice land intended to draw jobs to Chandler. Additional concerns were raised about placing homes east of Arizona Avenue and south of Queen Creek Road, close to Chandler Municipal Airport flight paths, railroad tracks and a possible future extension of the Valley’s light-rail system along Arizona Avenue.
