Scottsdale city manager let go after months of illness

Scottsdale City Manager Fritz Behring has been fired after a nine-month absence from city hall following a seizure and stroke he suffered last summer.

The city council voted 7-0 after a closed-door executive session on March 1 to terminate Behring’s employment over “serious doubt” about his ability to resume the city’s top bureaucratic post.
