[OPINION] How to connect HOAs and cities

Homeowners associations are key elements of West Valley communities, but the original concept has outgrown its usefulness.

Many cities make HOAs a virtual requirement before approving construction of new residential communities, but they eventually fall victim to their own success. The most successful HOA communities tend to

develop their own identities, which leads their residents to focus inward instead of on the larger city within which they reside.

We must find a way to reconnect.
