Judge throws out signatures in Hunt recall in Peoria; organizers re-file

A campaign to oust Peoria Councilwoman Vicki Hunt from office suffered a set back after the councilwoman successfully challenged the validity of the recall petition in court.

But the backers of the campaign, which Ms. Hunt claimed is organized by relatives of state Rep. Tony Rivero, has started gathering signatures again.

Mr. Rivero is a former Peoria councilman representing the Acacia District that Ms. Hunt now serves. His District 21 includes Peoria and part of Glendale.
