Sun City Fire District officials could be less than one month away from starting construction on their new fire station.
The new fire station to be built at 111th and Michigan avenues in Youngtown will eliminate cramped conditions at the current station. The project, with a total estimated cost of $6 million, was divided into two phases to facilitate a smooth and seamless construction period, according to Ron Deadman, Sun City fire chief. All ground preparation and utility work will be handled in the first phase, expected to begin Tuesday, Sept. 5 following the Labor Day holiday.
