U.S. mortgage rates drop again, hit 2017 low mark

U.S. mortgage rates dropped again this week, hitting their 2017 low mark, according to Freddie Mac.

The 30-year fixed mortgage averaged 3.86 percent for the week ending Aug. 24, down from 3.89 percent the previous week.

A year ago, mortgage rates stood at 3.43 percent.

Historically low mortgage rates have helped drive U.S. home sales, as well as the refinance market.
