Continuing to grow: Key projects taking off in 4 southwest Valley cities

Avondale will spend $10 million on upgrades to Festival Fields/West Valley View

Cities in the southwest Valley are responding to the region’s rapid population growth by investing in infrastructure and amenities as the new budget year gets underway July 1.

New-and-improved parks and more roads to boost economic development opportunities are among the capital projects in the pipeline. Here’s a look:

Splashier parks in Avondale

Avondale will spend $10 million on upgrades to Festival Fields, 101 E. Lower Buckeye Road.

Design is underway, but the latest rendering shows new amenities will include a lake, dog park, splash pad, ramadas and volleyball, pickleball and basketball courts.
