Two treatment plants are nearing completion to help ensure clean and safe water for residents.
According to Arizona Water Company President Bill Garfield, the treatment facility on Del Rio Road in Arizona City is almost complete. That facility will serve as a treatment center to eliminate arsenic from the water, Garfield said.
Trace amounts of arsenic are commonly found with minerals in Arizona water, he explained.
Drinking water must contain levels below 10 parts per billion. That’s been mandated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency since 2006. In May 2017, the Natural Resources Defense Council ranked Arizona’s drinking water as the ninth worst in the country for contaminants.
