Transportation. Often considered a four letter word in Maricopa. While it has been a “long road” getting the infrastructure the city currently has, there is still much to be accomplished.
After the housing market dropped, the city seemingly grew and populated overnight. Because of that, city staff scrambled to turn what was once just farm land into a bustling city.
“Every road we have paved today, minus the 347, for the most part has all been done in the last 15 years. It’s amazing,” said Mayor Christian Price. “You picked up 50,000 people and dropped them in Maricopa almost at the same time. What does that mean? That means you needed everything yesterday — all the roads, cable lines, electricity, water. Everything.”
