Developer to begin work on 310-acre residential community in Avondale

The development could eventually include more than 1,000 homes

Harvard Investments Inc. is embarking on a $50 million, 310-acre master-planned community in Avondale.

Plans call for breaking ground on its first neighborhoods in early 2019, said Tim Brislin, vice president of the Scottsdale-based developer. Called Verde Trails, the community will include residential and commercial parcels, themed parks and an extensive trail system.

The project is roughly bounded by 107th Avenue, Avondale Boulevard, Broadway Road and Southern Avenue.
