Residents with opinions about a rezone of Saddleback Ranch will have an opportunity to speak during a public hearing of the Planning and Zoning Commission at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6.

Caliber Companies has applied for a rezone and Planned Area Development (PAD) of 80 Acres of vacant land situated northwest of the intersection of Vulture Mine Road and W. Wickenburg Way. The request is for an increase in density from 115 units to 163 units, consisting of both single-family residential and multi-family residential units

Saddleback Ranch is a platted subdivision that was approved by the Town of Wickenburg in August 2007. The development received plat approval for 115 units. The majority of the approved lots range from 6,000 – 9,000 square feet. The development was to connect to the city utilities and all the roadways were dedicated to the Town. During the economic downturn the original developer could not financially make the development work so it was sold as unimproved land, according to Community Devlopment Director Steve Boyle in his printed report for P&Z.
