Mayor Thomas Schoaf gave his Litchfield Park state of the city address, Jan. 19, with nods to the past year and a look forward to 2019.
He covered a wide range of topics from the election of new council members to the donation of the Jackie Robinson Field by the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Mr. Schoaf spoke on the City Center project, a major mixed-use development expected to be the city’s centerpiece, and looked back on a city manager’s working group made up of representatives from city council, boards, commissions, business owners, property owners, community leaders and staff that met to work with Destination LP as they developed ideas for the master plan.
Three public meetings were held in which attendees were asked to provide input on different conceptual plans and concepts. Looking ahead to 2019, he said the city manager’s working group will continue to meet and work with Destination LP as they finalize the master plan, and the city will keep the public advised as to the progress of City Center.
