Diamondbacks fans have right to be furious over negotiations with Las Vegas suburb

Arizona Diamondbacks fans have every right to be furious over a report Thursday, saying the team had been negotiating with a Las Vegas suburb about a potential relocation.

The club is reiterating its desire to remain in the state, but this represents the latest in a string of negative developments that are certain to test loyalties.

The club traded fan-favorite Paul Goldschmidt over the winter. Then, in the thick of a playoff hunt, the front office got rid of its best pitcher, shipping out Zack Greinke.  

The on-field developments came after the team sued to gain control of Chase Field, saying the 20-year-old stadium was crumbling and in urgent need of expensive repairs. But aside from swapping out a natural grass field for artificial turf, the club has declined to make any major renovations in the last year.
