Sam Fox slated to develop upcoming Phoenix hotel

The popular restaurateur is tied to a boutique hotel coming to Arcadia

After years of success in the restaurant world, Sam Fox is looking to dive deeper into the hospitality industry by developing a new hotel.

The popular Phoenix restaurateur — who recently sold his business to the Cheesecake Factory for more than $300 million — was listed as developer of the hotel portion of the proposed mixed-use development called 44|Camelback on the northwest corner of 44th Street and Camelback Road in Phoenix. The headquarters to Fox’s company, Fox Restaurant Concepts, are across the street from the proposed development.

In June, Red Development submitted its first plans to the city of Phoenix for the proposed project, and on Aug. 16 the firm submitted an updated version.
