CenturyLink is expanding its network infrastructure and technology footprint in Mesa’s Gateway Airport area as the East Valley submarket continues to see growth.
That growth includes a new Google data center as well as new commercial and residential developments near Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport. Mesa has branded part of the area the Mesa Elliot Road Technology Corridor.
CenturyLink’s (NYSE: CTL) investment includes expanding its current footprint by more than 90 route miles of fiber and allowing customers in the East Valley to buy protected network services.
“The expansion of CenturyLink’s fiber in the Gateway area will help drive the future of Mesa’s Elliot Road Technology Corridor,” said John Giles, mayor, City of Mesa. “Their new capacity opens the door to major tech company expansions and new business, while keeping Mesa at the forefront of innovation.”
The beefed-up technology and network services will support the new Google and other planned data centers, the new SkyBridge development at Mesa-Gateway Airport as well as ASU’s Polytechnic Campus, the East Valley Institute of Technology and other East Valley schools and businesses.
