The Phoenix City Council is scheduled to consider a rezoning proposal today that would bring a 325-unit apartment complex near 35th Avenue and Happy Valley Road.

Pederson Group wants to build the new multifamily project on a vacant lot at 35th Avenue and Hackamore Drive.

The land is currently zone for open space or lower residential density use. The Council is being asked to rezone the property to allow for the new apartments.

Some neighborhood businesses support the new apartments saying the development will bring new activity and consumer spending to the area.
