Citizens rate Florence on achieving strategic plan

Halfway through its five-year strategic plan, the town is making mostly average progress on meeting its objectives, according to members of the citizens advisory group who helped write the plan.

This was especially true for the community vitality priority, in which five citizens group members rated the town exactly in the middle between disappointing and exceptional.

Nevertheless, town staff reported Monday to the Town Council several areas of progress on this front, including work on the future Poston Butte Preserve, monthly produce distributions at the community center, the new Florence Music Festival in March, the Downtown Redevelopment Area Improvement Program and code enforcement, including the cleanup of the Kokopelli Saloon fire.
