The city of Goodyear is looking at increasing spending for development services and water meters in order to keep up with growth and new real estate projects.
The Goodyear City Council will be asked at its February 24th meeting to consider a $1.2 million increase in spending on development services, engineering and water meters
The funding increase is aimed at keeping up with increased development activity, housing growth and economic development in West Valley city.
A number of new data centers are being built or are in the works in Goodyear including a large Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) campus.
The Goodyear Council will be asked to move $1.049 million from the city’s General Fund and anther $182,500 from its water operating fund for the allocation.
The supplemental increase aims to help city departments process development and construction plans and alleviate backlogs.
