Arizona ranks 36th among U.S. states when it comes to the current economic and jobs impact of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).
Financial research firm WalletHub examined the economic and business fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic on state economies. The ranking look at increases in unemployment claims, state economies reliance on sectors severely impacted by the Coronavirus, the percentage of workers who can work at home, paid-time off laws and state’s fiscal health to absorb all the lost revenue and costs of the pandemic.
Louisiana, Rhode Island and Nevada are seeing the most economic impact from the pandemic, according to WalletHub.
Georgia, California, Alaska and Oregon have the least amount of economic impact so far based on WalletHub’s research.
Arizona ranks 36th, Texas 35th, New York 24th, Florida 23rd and Washington state 32nd in terms of economic impact of the pandemic. The rankings include all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
New York has the most COVID-19 cases of any U.S. state with 75,795 cases and 1,550 deaths. Many of those are in the New York City area. Arizona has 1,157 cases and 20 Coronavirus deaths.
There are now 165,594 cases nationwide and 3,180 fatalities.
Arizona Doug Ducey issued a state at home order that goes into place end of business today. Arizonans can still go to the grocery store, medical appointments, pick up food from restaurants and ‘essential services’.
