The Buckeye City Council appointed Clay Goodman as an interim council member for District 6 after longtime Councilman Eric Orsborn resigned to run for mayor.
Goodman is the fossil generation training manager for Arizona Public Service, where he oversees technical training for six APS power plants in Arizona and New Mexico.
Goodman spent 25 years working for Estrella Mountain Community College before retiring in 2015. He served as the vice president of academic affairs, vice president of occupational education and vice president of administrative services.
“I’m pleased with the direction the city is headed,” Goodman said in a statement. “The Buckeye City Council and city management are working cohesively to ensure the city continues to grow while improving the quality of life for residents.”
Goodman’s term started Tuesday and will run through 2022. There were 16 candidates for the interim City Council seat.
He has lived in Verrado since 2012. He and his wife, Lynda, have two grown children and one grandson.
