Phoenix helping artists hit by COVID pandemic

The city of Phoenix is looking to fully implement a program to help artists impacted by the economic fallouts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The city is looking to allocate $700,000 from its $2.6 million Arts and Culture Coronavirus Relief Program to offer grants to artists who have lost work or been adversely impacted by the pandemic.

More than 500 artists in the city have applied for help. The Phoenix City Council will consider a full implementation of the $700,000 program at its meeting today.

Phoenix received $293 million from the federal government through the CARES Act.
