A Scottsdale City Council member is pushing back against recent mandates from the city and Maricopa County requiring face coverings in public.
The protest was titled “Unmask Us” and asked “Any Citizen of AZ who believes wearing a mask is a personal choice, and not a mandate” to “put your best face forward.”
Asked if he had planned the rally, Phillips told The Arizona Republic that he “suggested it and it snowballed from there. I really don’t know how many will show up but I will post Monday asking them to be responsible.”
The move comes after Scottsdale Mayor Jim Lane announced Thursday that residents must wear masks in public, as the number of reported COVID-19 cases continues to climb.
