Metro Phoenix losing construction jobs due to COVID

PHOENIX — Metro Phoenix saw a decline in construction jobs in the past year that was magnified by the coronavirus pandemic, according to an analysis released Wednesday.

The Associated General Contractors of America found that Phoenix had the fourth-largest loss in construction jobs of the 358 metro areas tracked between June 2019 and June 2020.

That equates to a loss of 2,600 jobs, a 2% decline in year-over-year totals.
