A Maricopa County Superior Court judge has denied a request by Gov. Doug Ducey to delay the start of an application process that would allow gyms in the state to reopen.
What will happen next week remains unclear. The Governor’s Office suggests the judge’s order doesn’t guarantee gyms can reopen, but some gym owners are planning to open their doors.
Judge Timothy Thomason said Tuesday the governor needs to give gyms an opportunity to apply to the state to reopen by Aug. 11. The Governor’s Office gave notice that it would appeal and asked Thomason to delay enforcing his decision during the appeal.
