Trash-hauler Republic Services has placed an order for 2,500 electric garbage and recycling trucks to be made by Nikola Corp. in a zero-emissions transportation deal that links two of Arizona’s most valuable corporations.
The companies did not disclose the dollar value of the order.
The trucks will have a range of 150 miles and the capacity to handle 1,200 residential trash cans on a single charge. The order is for the company’s Nikola Tre model, which features a compact cab for easier maneuvering in urban areas.
