Brewer backs Jerry Weiers in Glendale mayor’s race

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer has endorsed Jerry Weiers in his run for Glendale mayor.

Brewer lives and Glendale and both she and Weiers are Republicans.

Weiers, a state legislator, is running against the Democrat Manuel Cruz to succeed retiring Mayor Elaine Scruggs.

The mayor’s race officially is a nonpartisan contest, but has all kinds of partisan overtones.
