Mesa offers help to homeowners needing permits

The Arizona Republic

Mesa is offering a new program for people with home-renovation projects that require a building permit.

Beginning Oct. 1, the Homeowner-Builder Assistance Program will allow a professional plans examiner to provide one-on-one assistance to a homeowner.

Charlotte Bridges, a city plan examiner, will determine whether a project meets building codes and arrange for inspections.

Typical projects covered under the program include carport enclosures, room additions, decks, pool ramadas, bathroom and kitchen remodels, new gas appliances and electrical upgrades.

The program will be available 7 a.m.-6 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays. Information: 480-644-4273; charlotte.bridges@mesaaz.gov.
