[RLGR EXCLUSIVE] Q&A with Director of Rose Law Group Family Law Department, Kaine Fisher: providing normalcy, female bigamists and a humbling experience

The Rose Law Group Reporter got a chance to chat with Rose Law Group’s newest team member, Kaine Fisher. Kaine is the head of the family law department and brings not only experience but even more fun to the group. His practice areas range from divorce and custody to probate and criminal work. Check out what we chatted about below and if you would like to get in contact with Kaine you can do so by calling 480-240-5649 or emailing him at kfisher@roselawgroup.com.

Rose Law Group Reporter: Why family law, how did you get into this area of practice?

Kaine Fisher: I have a passion for helping families.  I’m certain this comes from a misguided guilt I had as a kid that I somehow had something to do with my parents getting divorced.  I tell clients: “I’m not in the business of convincing people to get divorced…I’m simply there for them when they make that very tough decision on their own.”  When a family falls apart – people look for stability and guidance.  Some sense of normalcy.  That is why I’m here and that is why I do what I do.

RLGR: What is the most memorable case you’ve worked on?

KF: I represented one of the many husbands of a notorious female bigamist in his divorce proceeding.  This women proceeded to marry several men from different branches of the Armed Forces (one from each if I recall correctly).  She would take these men for everything and then poof….gone.  She was eventually arrested and the story made national news.

RLGR: What is the most important advice you find yourself giving to clients?

KF: “Don’t sweat the small stuff.”

RLGR: What types of cases do you usually take on, and what types of cases do you feel most passionate about?

KF: Nothing truly gratifying comes easy.  I dig the tough cases.  Keeps me fresh.  Although my cases often settle (because that’s what’s best for the client), I’m all about conflict and controversy.   Going to Trial is why I became a lawyer and went to Syracuse (very good Trial advocacy program).  Why let it go to waste?

RLGR: If the mother of the Sandy Hook’s killer were alive, could she face any kind of legal sanctions?

KF: Legal? – Probably not.  But I’m sure the families of those precious young children would have something to say to her.  Sometimes that can be a worse punishment.

RLGR: Do you dream and if so, most common dream or nightmare?

KF: I really can’t remember the content of my dreams.   But sometimes they go on for so long it doesn’t feel like I got any sleep.

RLGR: Which is smarter, dog or cat?

KF: Not sure if you can characterize either as “smart.”  Anything that licks itself to keep clean could use some help.

RLGR: Favorite songs to jam out to?

KF: Any song by Mumford and Sons or the Lumineers.

RLGR: If you had the chance to be the first person on Mars, would you take it?

KF: Not a chance.   I’ll settle for the amazing pictures.  Now if you asked me about a time machine that would be a different story.

RLGR: Did you sweat out hearing whether you passed the Bar, or were you confident you aced it?

KF: I don’t even remember taking it.  It was such a blur.  I do remember wanting to throw up the entire 2 weeks leading up to finding out the results.  That test will truly humble you.

RLGR: Any superstitions?

KF: None.
