STATE CAPITOL – Needing a two-thirds majority, the Senate on Tuesday sent to the House a bill that would permit law enforcement to destroy medical marijuana seized during a criminal investigation.

The vote was 25-3 on SB 1441 . There was no debate.

A majority vote is required to change any law approved by voters in a General Election.

The bill mandates marijuana for medical use that is forfeited or seized in a criminal investigation be disposed of at the conclusion of the case in the same manner as marijuana.

The bill is one of several dealing with Arizona’s Medical Marijuana Act, including one to repeal the law passed in 2010.
